Working towards a successful energy transition

The Brief

Barley was appointed by the World Energy Council to redesign the organisation’s website with the objective of generating sign-ups for their global members network, which brings energy leaders together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future for energy.

Insights and Approach

With a 6-week timeline to get the new website up and running, we needed to be focused in our approach.

Our discovery phase was comprehensive, comprising stakeholder interviews, an interactive workshop with members of the WEC senior team, an online survey completed by 112 respondents from different countries and an in-depth competitor analysis against five other websites.

We established communications goals for the websites, both qualitative (brand, UI) and quantitative (SEO, calls-to-action), which enabled us to stay grounded in the organisation’s wider objectives.

Having developed a top line architecture (sitemap and wireframes), we wrote all website copy, gathered all other media and content and oversaw the website design, build and migration.

The Outcome

Within six days of launching the new site, the client reported that they had received 58 new membership applications already, amongst them a high proportion of their primary target audience.
